Located in southwestern Frederick County and surrounds the town of Petersville then extends to the Potomac River. Merry Land (PG Co. Patent# 1446 & 1447) containing 6300 Acres sometimes called Maryland was first surveyed in 1732 for Captain John Covill. John Covill died in 1756 and his brother Thomas Covill inherited the land. Thomas Covill died in 1766 in Virginia with George Washington serving as one of the executors.
