The Maryland State Archives has available online, for most counties, property tax maps for this period. The maps not only provide property outlines, but in most cases show the deed number. One value of the maps comes into play when tracing property owners back in time. If for example, tracing land back from the current day, they allow you to skip back in time over 40 years. The maps can also show how property was split up compared to the present day. Also check with Historical Society for each county, they may have in their possession additional years not available online.
