Maryland Patent Owner Index 1634-1985 which is also known as Index 54 is a alphabetical listing of patent owners for the state. The index covers both patented and unpatented tracts. The cards show which county the tract is located “Do not take this as a hard fact “. With the creation of new counties the cards may not represent the change. Some tracts listed can be in the wrong county.
The cards come in handy as they may show tracts that don’t appear in the Certificates of Survey. If a tract is located but its not in the Certificates of Survey you will have to access the Patent Books for a description.
