New Connaught Manor [Susquehanna Manor] Cecil County Maryland was patented to George Talbot in 1660 (Patent Book SDA-230) for 32000 acres. The plat listed contains the names of 1782 tenants who purchased their tracts of land as a result of property confiscated from British loyalist due to the American Revolution. Most of the tenants then had their property surveyed and patented from the State of Maryland. The names of the tenants from 1660 to 1782 are unknown. Manors were considered private property so any records of previous tenants was maintained by the owner or his representative.
