Maryland Historical Mapping© 2018 was designed to help explain and locate land records for the State of Maryland. The site concentrates on the western half of the state and along the Pennsylvania line. Even though the site concentrates on the western half of Maryland, much of the information still applies to rest of the state.
Land records are often overlooked as an excellent source of family history information. Many people think land records only show an ancestor owned property and the boundary courses. Much information can be found within these records that may help you break down those “Brick Walls.”
With the advance of record availability and software capabilities over time, ease in locating an ancestor’s property is beginning to evolve. Information will be provided on ways to find the actual location or at least the general area where the property lies.
