Samuel W. Piper Cemetery Project (Washington County)

Western Maryland’s Historical Library (WHILBR) website contains a valuable tool for genealogy. Samuel W. Piper visited all the known cemeteries in Washington County, Maryland, between 1936 and 1941. His hand-written list was typed up by the members of the Conococheague Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) beginning in 1942.

The Piper Cemetery list follows the same format as the (WHILBR) website and the files are searchable.

Topographic maps in the files were used to mark the location of the cemeteries with a number assigned for each cemetery. These locations have been placed on Google Earth to allow for a modern view of the sites. (Locations marked are approximate)

Not all burial grounds are shown. As new cemeteries or errors are discovered the files will be updated.

Note-Numbers on the location maps may be for the wrong cemetery listed in the records.
